Man United and Chelsea to rival for Borussia Monchengladbach's Many Kone signature

This summer, Man Utd and Chelsea can both finalize the purchase of a Frenchman who would set a transfer record, according to a source that claims a lucrative deal has been approved.

The Blues have spent well over £550 million over the last two transfer windows. This summer, a true player exodus is anticipated to aid the team's finances.

That won't stop Chelsea from approving a few newcomers, though. While Conor Gallagher, N'Golo Kante, and Mateo Kovacic's futures are still up in the air, a new center forward is needed, and central midfield may also need to be addressed.

Manchester United, however, is also looking to bolster its forward line and back end. A right-back offensive boost is also being considered, with Bayer Leverkusen's Jeremie Frimpong currently in extensive negotiations about a summer transfer.

According to recent German news, Manchester United and Chelsea may soon negotiate a deal for a player who will set a new transfer record for his team.

Kouadio Kone of Borussia Monchengladbach is the player in question, and according to German newspaper BILD, a substantial sale is imminent.

Borussia Monchengladbach hopes to collect about €70 million this summer through player sales after incurring losses of about €56 million over the previous three seasons.

Four players have been targeted for elimination, with Kouadio Kone, also known as Manu Kone, receiving the largest payout. The other three are Marvin Friedrich, Jordan Beyer, and Nico Elvedi.

Kone, 21, plays exclusively in central midfield and has been compared to Aurelien Tchouameni. But in addition to his defensive brilliance, he also possesses a breakneck speed, solid technical skill, and defense-splitting vision.

Fabrizio Romano, a transfer expert, recently investigated the possibility of Kone leaving this summer. Romano mentioned Chelsea, Manchester United, and PSG as having expressed interest in his YouTube video.

“It’s my understanding that three clubs at this moment are leading the race for Manu Kone,” said Romano. “One, for sure, is Chelsea."

“They have many players in their list. We have to include Romeo Lavia, Declan Rice they are always monitoring, but we know Manu Kone is a player they are following. Chelsea will be there."

“Man Utd are following the player too, so Chelsea, United and PSG.”

Jonathan Johnson, a French football specialist, later asserted that PSG are unlikely to pursue their interest. As a result, Chelsea and Manchester United might win the race.

In that regard, according to BILD, Chelsea have spoken with Gladbach. However, given their expected involvement in the Champions League next year, a move to Old Trafford would be more alluring.

In terms of price, Kone appears set to set a new club record for transfer fees at Gladbach. Granit Xhaka, who was acquired by Arsenal for €45 million back in 2016, presently has that distinction.

According to Romano, Kone will cost "at least €50m [roughly £44m] with add-ons."

The Borussia Monchengladbach record for a sum received is set to be broken in the Kone transaction, according to BILD.

Meanwhile, Victor Osimhen, a striker for Napoli, might be a target for Manchester United this summer, claims Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth.
Osimhen is one of the top possibilities on the Red Devils' transfer wishlist as they prepare to make a centre-forward investment at the end of the current campaign.

Sheth, in an interview with GIVEMESPORT, asserted that United might have the upper hand in luring Osimhen, who has expressed a desire to play in the Premier League.

He said: “It should be noted that Victor Osimhen, earlier on this season, has already said that one of his dreams is to play in the Premier League and he’s working hard to try and achieve that dream. If that is to be believed, then Man United might hold the upper hand over another European club in trying to sign someone like Victor Osimhen.”

Under manager Erik ten Hag, United has had a successful season, but they still lag behind their primary competitors when it comes to the center-forward position.

Despite scoring 28 goals this season, Marcus Rashford has excelled from the left flank with little help from the team's attackers.

Only 7 goals have been scored this season by Anthony Martial, who has spent the majority of the season being treated for a variety of injuries.

After joining on loan from Burnley in the middle of the season, Wout Weghorst was thought to be the answer, but with only two goals so far, the Dutchman has seemed out of sorts.

Victor Osimhen may be the solution for United, who obviously need an elite goalscorer up front. With 26 goals from 31 games, the £88 million star has excelled for Napoli. His work pace and commanding presence in the box would make him the ideal choice for ten Hag.

The Nigerian superstar enjoys applying pressure to rivals in the final third. Osimhen's desire to play in the Premier League, as Sheth said, may give United the advantage in the transfer market.
