Jacob Murphy and Alan Shearer both agrees on David De Gea being Man United's weak link due to one reason

Jacob Murphy, a winger for Newcastle, outlined how David de Gea provided his team the confidence they needed to defeat Manchester United.

Manchester United has struggled with David de Gea's shooting all season. The first goal for Newcastle was the result of his poor ball out of the back.

Jacob Murphy, a standout for Newcastle, talked about the goalkeeper's flaw in an interview with Five.

According to him, De Gea's uneasy appearance set the tone for the Red Devils' subpar display.

Rio Ferdinand questioned Murphy about whether they ever felt Manchester United were off their game. The midfielder pointed to De Gea's lack of competence as the cause of the away team's subpar performance.

“Their first goal kick, De Gea was taking a while. This is a bit unusual, he was taking his time with it, he was asking everyone to go up field, then hit long," Murphy explained.

“They were just taking a while, lots of pointing, I could sense from that, we were going to have a good game from there.”

Erik ten Hag has made attempts to overcome David de Gea's subpar punting, but they haven't been successful. Teams are content to let him have the ball because they recognize that it is an issue for Manchester United, according to Alan Shearer on BBC Sport's MOTD2.

Although De Gea made a few excellent reflex stops in the first half, the bad on Sunday outweighed the good. Newcastle's two headed goals had De Gea rooted to his line as a consistent factor.

There is presently no agreement in place regarding a renewal of the goalkeeper's contract, which is due to expire this summer.
