'We can beat anyone'- Che Adams makes relegation claim ahead of Old Trafford visit on Sunday

Southampton ace Che Adams has claimed he and his teammates are going to Old Trafford with confidence ahead of their next Premier League fixture amid their relegation battle.

The Saints are currently in the drop zone while Manchester United sit in third place on the Premier League table. They are 11 points behind league leaders Arsenal with a game in hand.

They recovered well from their 7-0 loss against Liverpool last weekend by beating Real Betis in their first leg of the Europa League round of 16 on Thursday night. Manchester United's front four of Marcus Rashford, Wout Weghorst, Bruno Fernandes, and Anthony Martial were all on the scoresheet as Erik Ten Hag's men returned to winning ways.

Southampton will be facing a huge challenge going to Old Trafford as Erik Ten Hag's side have dropped just four points since their opening-day loss to Brighton Albion. Newcastle United and Leeds United were the only teams to pick up points at the Red Devils' home.

Ruben Selles' side will be looking to draw inspiration from their 1-0 win against Chelsea last weekend when they played the blues at Stamford Bridge.

Che Adams is insisting the Saints can cause an upset at Old Trafford on Sunday, claiming himself and his teammates are confident of escaping from the relegation zone.

"I think we have shown it, that we can beat anyone on our day," he told Hampshire Live.

"We are a good enough team to do that, and over the past few times going to Old Trafford, we have got a couple of draws."

"I don't know why, but we always seem to produce against the bigger teams and play better against them; I don't know if that is them being overconfident or us just fighting for every ball." "But we are confident going into this game, and if it is not successful, then we have a few days to go into Brentford."

The last time Manchester United welcomed Southampton to Old Trafford was in February 2022. They played out a 1-1 stalemate, with Che Adams getting on the scoresheet for the Sunday visitors while Jadon Sancho ensured the Red Devils picked up at least a point from the fixture. The hosts won 1-0 in the first leg of the encounter this season away from Old Trafford as Marcus Rashford headed Erik Ten Hag's team to victory.
