Fans reacts as Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher drags each other on twitter over Antonio Conte's interview

Following Tottenham Hotspur's manager, Antonio Conte's post-match interview after he saw his side blow a two-goal lead against bottom-placed Southampton to finish their Saturday afternoon Premier League fixture in a 3-3 stalemate, former Manchester United's right back, Gary Neville, has engaged in a series of arguments with Liverpool great Jamie Carragher regarding the failed appointment of the former Juventus and Chelsea boss at Old Trafford.

Tottenham Hotspur thought they had won their Saturday afternoon Premier League fixture against Southampton after going 3-1 up at Saint Mary's Stadium, but two late goals from the relegation-battling Saints ended the match in a draw. A win would have seen them overtake Erik Ten Hag's side at third place on the league table, but the draw means they are still in fourth place and will be worried about Newcastle United, who are breathing down their necks from fifth place.

Spurs manager Antonio Conte didn't hide his anger during his post-match interview and called out not just his players but the club's board as well. He slammed how the club still had the same mentality and further stated that his players' approach will not fetch them success.

“The problem is we have shown we are not a team." "We are 11 players,” he said with disgust.

“I see selfish players." "I see players that don’t want to help each other; they don’t play with heart.”

Then the former Chelsea manager went ahead to call out Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, saying, "It is the same every season, no matter who the manager is." "They're used to it here," he continued.

“Don’t play for something important." They don’t want to play under pressure. They don’t want to play under stress.

“Tottenham’s story is this. 20 years there is the owner and they never won something.  "Why?" he inquired.

Manchester United failed to give the Italian the Old Trafford job after delaying Ole Solskjaer's sacking, and Antonio Conte joined the North London club before Man United announced Ole's exit weeks later.

Many criticized Manchester United's board's move, claiming the 20-time Premier League Champions will regret letting such an opportunity to bring in a manager who boasts of an excellent CV including trophies to Old Trafford. Ralf Ragnick's appointment and reign made things even worse.

While things appears to be heading the right direction for Man United under Erik Ten Hag, Spurs are considering relieving Antonio Conte of his position and it appears the unity in Spurs dressing room could be beyond the Italian's authority soon.

Manchester United's legend Gary Neville, in a series of tweets, called out former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher, reminding him of how he slated the former right back for kicking against Antonio Conte's appointment as manager.

When reminded of that on Twitter, he said, "Oh, I do.”

Carragher then replied, "Yes, you’d rather have kept that serial winner, Ole! "Then you wanted Poch, not ETH; I told you ETH was the better choice, but you wouldn’t listen.”

Neville replied: "Oh, but we would have had what you and loads of United fans wanted." "By the way, ETH is fantastic, but Poch is a great manager and would have been a lot better for United than your choice!”

The former Manchester United defender then said: "Many are saying Conte should go this morning. I’d keep him right where he is and make him do his job.”

Manchester United's faithful as well are shocked by the sudden meltdown that seems to be happening within the North London-based club; one tweeted that the Red Devils avoided a bullet by not appointing Antonio Conte.

One tweet read: “Waiting for Erik ten Hag and not hiring Conte despite pressure from the media and pundits when he was literally begging for the job, could be one of Man Utd’s best decisions in recent years.”

Another added: “Tbh, I wanted Conte for us like many United fans, but that’s because we were desperate at the time. "Man I sleep well at night knowing that we got Erik ten Hag.”

A third said: ”Our fanbase genuinely wanted Antonio Conte over this man." "Waiting out for Ten Hag may become one of the best decisions we’ve ever made as a football club."

And another summed up the mood by saying, “I thank the stars every day that we managed to get Ten Hag and dodged the Conte bullet when Ole got sacked.”
