'Don't give easy freekicks'- Erik Ten Hag issues Man United James Ward-Prowse warning

Manchester United's manager Erik Ten Hag has hinted at the plan that has been devised to stop Southampton's dead ball specialist, Ward Prowse, when the Saints play the Red Devils at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

James Ward-Prowse has proven to be one of the most dangerous set-piece takers in the modern Premier League, and he is regarded highly across Europe as well. The 28-year-old is on course to match David Beckham's set-piece record as he is just one goal shy of the former England international's goal total from set pieces.

The Southampton ace has been a shining light on the Saints' side in their relegation battle this season. He recently inspired them to a 1-0 win when they visited Chelsea at Stamford Bridge; his first-half freekicks were enough for Ruben Selles' men to secure an incredible win against the Blues.

Ahead of their trip to Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon, Erik Ten Hag has acknowledged that the 28-year-old is a threat and has emphasized how the Red Devils are attempting to neutralize his threat.

"Yeah, he is always an issue when you play Southampton and you play Ward-Prowse. Don’t give the easy free kicks because he has the capabilities to score. "So don’t put them in that position because he can," the United boss said.

"We also have a good goalie to deal with such situations, but you don’t want to take that risk." There are no easy games. We have seen We have to bring the performance; we have to play to our levels, so it’s all about us."

"When we play a good opponent, and there are no easy games, when you don’t bring your level, you get punished." Either you lose, or you lose strong. We have to avoid that. "We have to be ready, so we have to recover now and go for part two of our rehabilitation."

Southampton are in the drop zone and are struggling to stay in the Premier League next season, while Manchester United will be looking to continue thier huant for a Champions League finish next season and also looking to build on thier 4-1 win against Real Betis in the Europa League on Thursday after losing to Liverpool last weekend with a 7-0 scoreline.
